Briggs Photography Re-Design

Logo Design and Interface Design

About

When first worked with Miss Briggs back in 2020, both my skills as a designer and her business brand were immature. Since then Miss Briggs approached me looking to update her logo and website interface to better fit the brand her company has become.

Scope

Logo Design and Interface Design

Challenge

Create a logo that is presented on a website with a “minimalist, clean and timeless feel” that functions for clients to Book a session with Briggs Photography and potential employers to view Miss Briggs's personal photography portfolio.

Logo Design

Miss Briggs explained that her audience demographic, product and services were all the same. However, she found that she was starting to ween off high school graduates and get more college graduation shoot inquiries.

She wanted to keep with the same themes and goals but wanted to play around with some different looks. So together we put together a Pinterest board of inspiration photos.

From this, I was able to grasp a more concert idea of what Miss Briggs was looking for with her new logo. She explained she wanted to have a logo that could be incorporated when the full name of her business was displayed. It didn't necessarily have to be the “B” and “P” but she emphasized that the logo made sense both with and without “Briggs Photography” accompanying it.

After getting direction from Miss Briggs, I sketched up some options in InDesign. Playing around with the letters and fonts to try and get versatile options within the scope of what Miss Briggs had described. Miss Briggs ended up selecting one of my sketches to pursue as her final logo.

I re-worked my sketch in different fonts and incorporated a small camera graphic for some final options for Miss. Briggs to choose from.

After she selected her logo, we started to discuss improvements to her website's interface.

“I want it to feel like an empty art gallery where the only attention that the eye is drawn to the photos and booking a session to get the photos”

Interface Design

As a whole Miss. Briggs wanted to reduce visual clutter to make the site as clear and concise as possible.

Seeing as how her color pallet was black Navy and white I suggested we cut out the black as it is so similar to the navy and just use the two contrasting colors to develop an “art-gallery” feel while still tying into the brand.

Miss Briggs Noted that she wanted to have a sold homepage that consisted of nothing but her animated logo, slogan, and a button to bring prospective clients. She directed she wanted to place a specific photo as the background.

Then I went in to reduce visual clutter. Creating a drop-down menu at the top of the homepage to separate all the different services she offered followed by a ‘Personal Portfolio’ tab, ‘Contact Page’, and ‘About Me’.

Going in on each page my first step was to remove all the example photos she had and instead place a scrolling bar with 4-5 of her best/favorite images that represent that service.

I then took all the photos I removed and organized them in folders under her portfolio tab. Also, put a button to direct potential clients to the portfolio page if they wanted to see more examples shots before booking.

With a couple more tweaks and placement edits, I was able to deliver Miss. Briggs with an updated logo and website that she felt was a proud representation of her brand.
